Wanaka Hike & Fly

WANAKA HIKE & FLY

A three day race in the stunning Southern Alps, with a flexible formula suitable for both high level athletes and leisure pilots who want to learn and socialise with fellow paragliding enthusiasts

HIKE & FLY RACING FUN FRIENDS ADVENTURE

The athletes decide which turnpoints from the official list they cross and in which order. Easily accessible turnpoints give an athlete 1 point, further or more tricky ones 2 points or more. To make it more fun there is a 5-point bonus for sleeping at a designated Night Turnpoint, and a Bivvy Bonus with a Social Twist for camping in the mountains (1 point if alone, 2 points if with another athletes).

The athletes can stay close by or go for those far turnpoints but they need to be careful; there is a 10-point penalty if they don’t arrive at the finish line before the end of the race!

The sixth edition will take place during 27 February – 1 March 2026 (Fri-Sun).

The race starts at 9:00am NZT on 27 February 2026. Mandatory registration and briefing takes place an evening before the start of the race (26 February 2026).

The registration is now closed.
